Urban/Regional planning

In this field, planning, analyses, and proposals are made for measures related to the issues and future design of cities and regions, such as regional planning, city planning, and urban facility planning. Due to the declining and aging population, there is an increasing need to fundamentally rethink the future of cities, regions and districts and to study future plans that suit the actual conditions of each area. Concrete examples include master plans for city planning areas and cities based on new ideas, central city invigoration plans, urban renaissance plans.

• Community cycle business operation
  
  In the City of Himeji, Hime-Chari, a social experimental project on “Community Bicycles”, which is a new transport system by sharing bicycles, was lauched. Our group managed this project for about half a year from October 2015 to March 2016.
  In this business, a survey is conducted on a trial basis through a smartphone application to determine the travel route and stay time we will consider using it for future tourism measures.
• Basic universal design concept
  
  In the assistance for formulating the basic barrier-free concept of cities, towns, and villages, we promote universal design access throughout the whole area, consider facilitation of the movement of people who are elderly or have disabilities, and provide recommendations on the future model of cities in an era of population decline.
  In consideration of the regional concept for Sendai City, we carried out town walk inspections and workshops to assist in the formulation of basic plans while reflecting the opinions of citizens and business operators.
• Assistance in regional activation through wide-ranging cooperation
  
  With the opening of the entire Onomichi Matsue Line, which is a free high-standard highway, private sector organizations are taking the lead in the areas along the lines, and regional revitalization efforts are being carried out in a wide area.
  As a support in the efforts for continuous regional revitalization, our group not only considered the practical formation of an organization but also compiled and provided information and know-how on regional revitalization to the people in the area.
